คนไข้ที่มีฟันในชุดฟันผสม ระหว่างฟันแท้และฟันน้ำนม โดยเฉพาะฟันหน้าแท้ที่ขึ้นมาบนล่าง แต่พบความผิดปกติ ฟันล่างคร่อมฟันหน้าบน โดยมีแนวโน้มที่จะเกิดการสบฟันลักษณะนี้ที่รุนแรงในอนาคตได้

คุณหมอจัดฟัน พิจารณาแก้ไขฟันหน้าให้กลับมาอยู่ในตำแหน่งฟันหน้าบน คร่อมฟันหน้าล่างตามปกติ โดยใช้ระยะเวลารักษาสั้นๆ ประมาณ 2-3 เดือน เพื่อป้องกันรากฟันแท้หยุดการเจริญเติบโต โดยจะเลือกจัดฟันด้วยเครื่องมือจัดฟันแบบถอดได้ (คนไข้เด็กมักไม่ให้ความร่วมมือ) หรือจัดฟันแบบติดแน่น ด้วยแบ็คเก็ต ซึ่งควบคุมความสำเร็จได้ง่ายกว่า

หลังการติดเครื่องมือแบ็คเก็ต เพื่อแก้ไขฟันหน้า ประมาณ 2-3 เดือน ฟันหน้าบนก็กลับมาในตำแหน่งที่ปกติ โดยประเมินแนวโน้มว่ากระดูกขากรรไกร และฟันของคนไข้รายนี้ จะเจริญเติบโตในลักษณะที่ปกติต่อไปได้ ก็พิจารณาถอดเครื่องมือออก ปล่อยให้ขากรรไกรเจริญเติบโตไปตามธรรมชาติต่อไป นัดติดตามเป็นระยะ ทุก 6 เดือน

The upper and lower front teeth were erupting, but an anterior crossbite was observed, where the lower front teeth overlapped the upper teeth—a condition that could worsen if left untreated.The orthodontist intervened to correct the anterior teeth, restoring the normal bite where the upper front teeth slightly overlap the lower teeth. The treatment period was short, approximately 2–3 months, to prevent interference with the growth of the permanent tooth roots. Depending on patient cooperation, removable appliances or fixed brackets were used, with fixed brackets providing better control for predictable results.After 2–3 months of treatment with fixed brackets, the upper front teeth were aligned to the correct position. Follow-up assessments indicated that the patient’s jaw and teeth were likely to continue growing normally. The appliance was then removed, and the patient was scheduled for routine follow-ups every 6 months.
